Sebastien Ogier victorious in Australia

Sebastien Ogier extended his championship lead by taking out the Rally Australia in a Volkswagen 1-2-3 on Sunday.

The Frenchman moved further clear of fellow team member Jari-Matti Latvala in the World Rally Championship title battle with his 6.8-second triumph at Coffs Harbor.

Andreas Mikkelsen, third in the general standings, finished the main three in Volkswagen's first ever platform clear.

The result saw the group secure the makers' title.

Ogier's win saw him pull 50 focuses clear on the standings on 214 focuses, with Latvala (164) and Mikkelsen (125) his closest adversaries with three races remaining.

Latvala held a thin risk of getting Ogier on Sunday, yet those trusts were negligible and he never put enough weight on his partner.

The following stop is the Rally France on October 3-5.
