Keshi should not quit in crisis, says Rufai

Legendary Stationery Stores FC of Lagos first-cull goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to settle the issue of Super Eagles coach in order to keep the players focused in their AFCON qualifying matches.

Against this backdrop, Rufai has  additionally admonished Coach Stephen Keshi not quit his job amid the crisis rocking the football house as well as the hiccups in his contract.

“Keshi should utilize his managerial adeptness to handle the situation and not to quit,” Rufai verbally expressed.

The former Super Eagles captain and shot stopper admitted Keshi has done well so far with the Eagles, and noted that the vanquishment against Congo in Calabar should not be an exculpation to condemn him.

“Keshi has done well for the Super Eagles; that Eagles were vanquished in Calabar by Congo is not any reason that he should be condemned. At the same time, Keshi should optically discern it as a good challenge to remedy the situation.

“This is the time he should go back to the drawing board, sit down with his employers to settle all nagging issues and work on the grey areas to move the Eagles forward,” he advised.

Opinions have been divided on Keshi’s tenure after Nigeria suffered a 2-3 defeat in the hands of Congo, even as he had to guide the national team in the AFCON games on dubious term of contract.
